Donor Benefits 2021

As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, contributions to City Theatre are tax-deductible as determined by law.
Additionally, supporters are acknowledged throughout the year with various donor benefits.

The mission and work of City Theatre would not be possible without the numerous individuals who
continue to prioritize the organization through their philanthropic giving. In addition to foundations,
government entities, and corporations, support from over 1,100 individual donors – with gifts of all
sizes – generates 65% of City Theatre’s annual budget.

In 2020, City Theatre launched the “(Re)Open the Red Doors Campaign,” a new funding initiative
aimed at ensuring the successful return to operations and programming when safe after the Covid-19
crisis. All unrestricted contributions received to the annual fund are recognized as part of the Red
Door Campaign and its donors shall enjoy additional public and private credit for their generosity
during this difficult time.

By donating to City Theatre and the Red Door Campaign, contributors:
• Provide increased philanthropic impact by pooling with other donors, creating greater
leverage for critical foundation and government support;
• Become part of a larger community fighting for the future of City Theatre;
• Deliver much-needed financial resources during a time when ticket sales are not possible

Current Benefits

With the health and well-being of donors, staff, and artists paramount, all typical in-person donor
events and benefits are suspended until it is safe to resume. All benefits will be honored.

However, even during the Covid crisis, City Theatre is determined to honor its Red Door donors. As
such, we can immediately offer the following (physically-distanced) benefits for current supporters:

• Online recognition of donors (by level);
• Inclusion on donor rolls in digital playbills for current and future virtual programming
(F7thGrade, Young Playwrights Festival, Momentum Festival, etc);
• Invitations to behind-the-scenes artist chats in City Theatre’s “Donor Zoom Lounge” (gifts of
$250 and more);
• Access to City Theatre’s (new – Summer 2021) periodic newsletter, featuring fun facts, interviews, and other
original content;
• A digital ticket to a special Red Door Campaign toast and celebration (June 2022).

Is there anything else that intrigues? This is all new territory for us – and a chance to re-imagine how
we engage with our donors. What access or opportunity appeals to you? We are happy to curate new experiences, so just write Director of of Development Dianne Duursma with your ideas:
