Active Analysis Immersive
Dates: Saturday, March 26th OR Sunday, April 3rd
Time: 12-6pm
Available spots: 10/day
Instructor: Cotter Smith
Cost: $100
Veteran actor and teacher Cotter Smith (Nextflix series Mindhunter, the Tony Award-nominated Next Fall) will lead two one-day immersive workshops using the little-known late-period Stanislavsky technique called Active Analysis. Each participant will explore a scene utilizing this technique in which actors examine the dynamic physical and emotional life of a text without using predetermined objectives. Initially focusing on what they are doing in a scene rather than what they are saying, actors concentrate on the body rather than the mind as the starting point for approaching both the character and the scene. To apply, please send a resume and headshot to workshops@citytheatrecompany.org by Friday, March 18th. Please note, proof of vaccination is required to participate.
