In Their Own Voices Online
In Their Own Voices is going digital! A collaboration between City Theatre and the Dramatists Guild, Pittsburgh Region, this annual event features playwrights based in the greater Pittsburgh area reading excerpts of their work out loud. The event is generally hosted in conjunction with City Theatre’s annual Momentum Festival of New Play at Different Stages. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, City and the DG have teamed up to bring ITOV online. City Theatre Associate Artistic Director, Clare Drobot will curate a collection of ten writers whose work will be showcased online over the course of May. Each writer will receive an introduction hosted by Pittsburgh Regional Reps Mora Harris and TJ Parker-Young.
Submissions will be accepted beginning Monday, April 6th for writers interested in participating. In order to address this current moment, we are specifically looking for pieces that address the theme of community. Writers can submit an excerpt from a longer piece, or a new work written specifically for the event. Participating writers should anticipate sharing up to 10 minutes of material. To be considered for inclusion, please send a 5-page sample of your piece and a bio under 100 words to firstname.lastname@example.org. Submissions are due FRIDAY, APRIL 24th at 6pm and participating artists will be announced by the end of the month.
This call is open to writers in Pittsburgh, Western PA, West Virginia and Eastern Ohio. Dramatists Guild members will be given preference. Questions? Please contact email@example.com
